Groundwater Pollution

Groundwater Pollution is a serious problem in many parts of the country. In Oklahoma, there is one region of our state that has a severe problem of groundwater pollution--it lies in the northeast extreme corner of the state around the Picher Mining District.

This week in lab you will be analyzing data from wells in this region in order to determine the extent of contamination by groundwaters that have flowed through lead-zinc mines of the region.

For the pre-lab exercise you might familiarize yourself with the region by looking at photos and information from the United States Geological Survey, which in one organization monitoring this region. Otherwise, all information for this week's lab will be presented in lab.
